Fatal shooting in Roskovec, Albania over disputed £180,000
In the early hours of Thursday, 35‑year‑old Refit (Nertil) Buzi entered the home of Rozalinda Plaka in the village of Roskovec, Fier County. Armed with a hunting rifle, he opened fire, killing husband Kosta Plaka on the spot and severely wounding his wife Belerie Plaka, who later died at Fier Regional Hospital after a lengthy surgery. A third victim, the suspect himself, died by suicide after a police chase that ended in the nearby village of Kurjan.
The incident is linked to a long‑running financial dispute. Buzi’s parents say he had sent about £180,000 to his former partner while working in the United Kingdom, money that Rozalinda’s family allegedly refused to return. The family claimed the unpaid sum fueled the conflict that escalated into the deadly confrontation. Police investigations continue into the motive and the financial claims surrounding the murder.
