Fatal shootings reported in Japan and Thailand

In Kawachinagano, Osaka, a 60-year-old man died after being shot by police following reports of him acting violently with a knife near a supermarket. The Osaka Prefectural Police stated that officers issued warnings and fired warning shots into the air before discharging two shots at the individual, who was struck in the chest. While official reports cite hemorrhagic shock from the gunshot wound as the cause of death, social media footage has sparked debate regarding the sequence of events and the man's actions after being shot.

In Surat Thani, Thailand, a fatal shooting occurred at a karaoke bar in the Ban Takun district during the early hours of August 9. A 49-year-old man died from gunshot wounds after a dispute broke out between him and a 66-year-old acquaintance while they were drinking after closing hours. The 66-year-old suspect was apprehended by bystanders and remains under medical treatment for a head injury. Police recovered a 7.65mm semi-automatic pistol and ammunition from the scene.
