A 39-year-old driver died following a multi-vehicle collision in the Wels-Schafwiesen district of Austria. The accident occurred around 2:00 AM on the B1 Wiener Straße (Linzer Straße) when the driver, originating from the Grieskirchen district, entered the outbound lane while traveling in the wrong direction.

The wrong-way driver collided head-on with a vehicle driven by a 22-year-old man. A third vehicle, driven by a 44-year-old, was unable to stop in time and crashed into the two initial vehicles.

The 39-year-old driver died at the scene. The 22-year-old driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to the Wels Clinic, while the 44-year-old driver suffered minor injuries. Authorities have ordered an autopsy to determine if alcohol or drugs played a role, and investigations into how the driver entered the wrong lane are ongoing.
