Fatal motorcycle accidents reported in Meta, Colombia

Two separate motorcycle accidents in the Meta department of Colombia resulted in fatalities on August 6 and 7.

In Granada, Alejandro Matiz, known as “Cholo,” died following a motorcycle accident in the early hours of Friday, August 7. The incident occurred near Sena Los Naranjos on the road connecting Granada to San Juan de Arama. Preliminary reports suggest the motorcyclist may have lost control of his vehicle and struck a pole, though official investigations are ongoing.

In Cumaral, Nelson Obidio Chivatá passed away on Friday following a collision on Thursday night. The accident occurred around 9:42 PM at kilometer 24 of the national highway near the El Prado neighborhood, where the victim's motorcycle reportedly struck the rear of a turbo vehicle. Although emergency services provided initial assessment, authorities are still working to officially determine if the injuries sustained in the crash were the direct cause of death.
