Fatal traffic accidents reported in Bunia and Kagbelen

Two separate fatal traffic accidents involving heavy vehicles have been reported in Bunia and Kagbelen.

In Bunia, a woman under the age of 30 died on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, in the Lumumba neighborhood. Witnesses report that a speeding motorcycle struck her foot, causing her to fall into the path of a truck. The truck driver was detained by security services for investigation, while the motorcycle drivers fled the scene.

In Kagbelen, a 30-year-old banker named Gauché Loua was killed on Thursday morning, August 20, 2026. According to witnesses, a large truck traveling at high speed attempted to avoid a nearby checkpoint and struck a motorcyclist. The victim, an employee of the microfinance institution ‘Mon Crédit’, died at the scene and leaves behind a widow and two children.
