Fatal traffic collision in Cruzeiro do Sul, Acre kills teenage girl
A traffic collision occurred at the intersection of Avenida Floriano Peixoto and Avenida Siqueira Campos in Cruzeiro do Sul, Acre, when Flávio de Souza Pereira, 39, drove through a stop‑sign marked "R‑1" and struck a VW Gol driven by Marcelo de Oliveira Antunes, 50. The impact caused the Fiat Uno driven by Pereira to lose control, spin and crash into an electric‑pole.
Ana Flávia Figueira Pereira, 16, who was a passenger in the Uno, was trapped in the wreckage and died at the scene. Her friend, also 16, and the drivers survived with injuries and were taken to the hospital. Police classified the case as involuntary homicide. Both drivers tested 0.00 mg/L for alcohol. The state traffic department (Detran‑AC) noted that the driver exceeded the speed limit and may not have been wearing a seatbelt, contributing to the severity of the crash.
