Fatal Train Collision at Kamen-Methler Station in Germany

On a Saturday in early July 2026, a person was struck and killed by a passing train at Kamen-Methler station in North Rhine‑Westphalia, Germany. The train driver attempted to brake, but the train came to a stop several hundred metres beyond the station.

Approximately 500‑530 passengers on the train were held on the immobilised vehicle for about two hours. Emergency services, including the Kamen fire brigade, police, ambulance, and DB staff, evacuated the passengers and provided support. A replacement service was dispatched, allowing travelers to continue toward Bielefeld and Hamm.

Authorities opened an investigation, with the federal police noting that a suicide could not be ruled out. The incident caused significant disruption on the line and prompted a coordinated emergency response.
