In Villa El Salvador, Peru, 20-year-old Álvaro Alonso Sandoval allegedly struck and killed 39-year-old Venezuelan national Angelina Marcano. The victim was walking near her home when the vehicle lost control during a turn. Sandoval's father, Jorge Sandoval, who was in the passenger seat at the time, apologized to the family and the public. He claimed the vehicle was traveling at low speed and attributed the accident to poor road conditions and mud. It was also noted that the driver did not possess a valid driver's license.
