Fatal violence reported in Pantoja and Barahona

Two separate fatal incidents have been reported in the Dominican Republic. In the Pantoja district of Santo Domingo Oeste, 32-year-old Williams de Jesús died after sustaining a penetrating wound to the chest during an alleged altercation on Saturday night. He was transported to the Dr. Vinicio Calventi hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries. The National Police are investigating the circumstances of the fight.

In the community of Bombita, Barahona, Wilson Mateo was shot and killed during a birthday celebration in the early hours of Sunday morning. Mateo sustained gunshot wounds to the head, mouth, and chest. Local residents have expressed indignation, questioning why the alleged perpetrator, identified as Jauny, was at liberty. Reports indicate the suspect had previously been involved in a firearms incident in August 2025 that injured a minor, but was subsequently released by a court. The body has been sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences in Azua for examination.
