Fatal well-related accidents reported in Muara Enim and Lebak

Two separate fatal accidents involving well digging have been reported in Indonesia.

In Muara Enim, two laborers, Agustinus Ari Feriyanto (40) and Heriyanto (42), died after being exposed to suspected toxic gas in a 12-meter-deep well in Muara Lawai Village. The incident occurred while they were attempting to install pipes to find a water source. Heriyanto lost consciousness first, and when Agustinus descended to assist him, he also succumbed to the gas. Local firefighters and rescue teams conducted the evacuation.

In Lebak, Banten, a 38-year-old man named Deni died after being buried by a landslide during the excavation of a 15-meter-deep well in Cipeundeuy Village. A joint SAR team, including Basarnas Banten, conducted a gradual evacuation by removing debris and reinforcing the well walls to prevent further collapses. The victim's body was recovered on Sunday night and returned to his family.
