Fatal workplace accident in Sant’Arcangelo kills worker

A fatal workplace accident occurred in the industrial area of Sant’Arcangelo, Basilicata, resulting in the death of a 58-year-old carpenter identified as Salvatore Terracina. The victim, a resident of Senise and an employee of KG Buildings, was reportedly struck by an operating machine at a construction site shortly before 8:00 AM.

Regional President Vito Bardi and Regional Council President Marcello Pittella expressed their condolences to the victim's family, emphasizing the urgent need to prioritize workplace safety within institutions and businesses. Following the incident, the construction site has been seized as authorities and the Carabinieri conduct investigations to determine the exact dynamics of the accident and establish any legal responsibilities.

Giuseppe Palumbo, Provincial Secretary of UGL Potenza, condemned the incident, stating that safety must not be treated as a bureaucratic formality or secondary to production needs and cost containment. He called for a move away from rhetoric toward concrete prevention measures to prevent further loss of life.
