Fatal workplace accidents in Peru and Mexico claim two workers

A 41‑year‑old miner died after falling more than 50 metres from a cable‑carriage system (wincha) while traveling between hills in the Secocha mining zone of Camaná, Arequipa, Peru. The equipment malfunctioned, leaving the worker suspended before he lost his grip and fell onto rocks and soil. Police and public prosecutors inspected the site and the body was taken to the local morgue for autopsy.

In El Salto, Jalisco, Mexico, a 48‑year‑old construction worker was killed by an electric shock while waterproofing a roof. A tool apparently contacted a transformer on the rooftop, producing a loud blast and causing the victim to collapse. Emergency services arrived, but the worker was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is under investigation by municipal police and the Institute of Forensic Sciences.
