Police confirm identity of man abducted in Pedro Juan Caballero

Authorities have confirmed that the body found in the Potrera Ortiz colony, approximately 30 kilometers from Pedro Juan Caballero, belongs to 26-year-old Marcelo Ruan Lázaro Ortiz. The discovery follows a violent incident in which an armed group wearing tactical clothing stormed a residence in the Barrio Obrero neighborhood.

During the raid, the group murdered 27-year-old Brazilian national Carolina Benites Arce and forcibly abducted Ortiz. Investigators noted that the victim's body had a gunshot wound to the head, leading Prosecutor Emilio Álvarez to suggest the individual may have been killed elsewhere before being dumped in the area.

Police are investigating the motive behind the attack, noting that Ortiz reportedly had an outstanding arrest warrant in Brazil related to drug trafficking. The investigation continues as authorities examine evidence from the crime scene and security footage of the abduction.
