Fatboy Slim reveals he has never been paid to play Glastonbury
DJ Fatboy Slim, born Norman Cook, has revealed that he has never been paid a fee to perform at the Glastonbury Festival. Despite having performed at the event an estimated 100 times, the artist stated that he does not charge for his appearances.
In exchange for his performances, the festival organizers, Emily and Michael Eavis, provide him with free tickets to the event. Cook described the festival as a “utopian society” that has not been “tarnished by money,” noting that the organizers often donate profits to charity.
Cook’s history with the festival dates back to 1986, when he performed on the Pyramid Stage as a member of the band The Housemartins. He has since become one of the most frequent performers in the festival's history, often appearing both as an official act and in unofficial, smaller capacities.
