Fate workers protest eviction order in San Fernando

Labor organizations, social groups, and political entities have called for a mobilization this Monday in front of the Fate factory in San Fernando to protest a court-ordered eviction. The order was issued by the Second Chamber of the San Isidro Court of Appeals and Guarantees, which granted a resource presented by Fate to restore the property in Virreyes to its owners.

The Sindicato Único de Trabajadores del Neumático Argentino (SUTNA) has criticized the ruling, with General Secretary Alejandro Crespo describing it as a “disparate jurídico”. The union maintains that the occupation is a labor conflict resulting from a “lockout patronal” following the company's announcement in February to close the plant and terminate 920 workers.

Fate has attributed the permanent closure of the facility to several factors, including loss of competitiveness, increased tire imports, declining demand, high internal costs, and ongoing labor conflict. The factory has been occupied by workers since February.
