Uttar Pradesh villagers tie technician to tower over 5G issues
In the village of Hardauli, located in the Fatehpur district of Uttar Pradesh, India, residents allegedly tied a telecommunications technician, Aditya Bhan Singh, to a mobile tower. The incident was driven by long-standing frustration over poor mobile connectivity; villagers reported receiving unstable 4G services despite paying for 5G for approximately two years.
According to local reports, the villagers confronted Singh upon his arrival to fix network issues, demanding that senior officials from the network provider visit the area to resolve the problem permanently. The technician was eventually released after being held for approximately two hours.
Fatehpur Police Superintendent Abhimanyu Manglik confirmed that the dispute stemmed from inadequate connectivity despite the presence of a private telecom tower. Following the incident, authorities arrested several individuals, including Rahul Patel, Suraj Yadav, Alok Patel, Yogendra Yadav, Alok Yadav, and Sachin Patel, who were subsequently released on bail. Charges of unlawful confinement and disturbing public order have been filed against those involved.
