FATF to hold first plenary meeting under UK Presidency in Paris

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) will convene its first plenary meeting under the UK Presidency, led by Giles Thomson, from October 28 to 30 in Paris. The gathering follows the start of FATF Week and will include delegates from over 200 jurisdictions and observer organizations.

Key objectives for the meeting include advancing the FATF roadmap to combat fraud and reviewing the progress of jurisdictions currently under increased monitoring. For the first time, Barbados, Namibia, and Thailand will participate through the FATF-Style Regional Body (FSRB) Guest Initiative, a program designed to incorporate diverse regional perspectives into the fight against illicit finance.

Additionally, delegates are expected to discuss mutual evaluation reports for Mexico and the United States. These assessments evaluate how effectively these nations combat money laundering, terrorist financing, and proliferation financing in compliance with FATF Recommendations. The FATF President will hold a virtual press conference on October 30 to announce the plenary outcomes.
