Ecuadorian father and daughter found dead in Quito's Carapungo, homicide probe opened

Prosecutors in Ecuador opened a pre‑emptive homicide investigation after the bodies of a 63‑year‑old man and his 23‑year‑old daughter were discovered on May 30, 2026, in a home in Carapungo, a district of Quito. Police collected two mobile phones, a computer, two knives and a hammer as evidence, and noted that the daughter suffered multiple sharp‑force injuries to the head, neck and face, while the father had a severe head wound and knife wounds to the neck. Authorities have not yet determined whether a third party was involved and will gather statements from relatives, forensic reports, phone data and security‑camera footage to reconstruct the circumstances of the deaths.
