Father donates liver and bowel to six-year-old son in rare transplant

Gary Jackson donated part of his liver and bowel to his six-year-old son, Harry Jackson, in an extremely rare transplant procedure at King's College Hospital in London.

Harry was born with malrotation, a bowel abnormality that can lead to life-threatening complications such as volvulus. Due to years of intravenous feeding required to manage his condition, he also developed intestinal failure-associated liver disease (IFALD).

Following medical assessments, Gary Jackson was confirmed as a suitable donor. Harry is one of only approximately 10 children worldwide to have undergone this complex operation.
