Father John Misty releases new single and announces solo tour

Father John Misty, the stage name for Josh Tillman, has released a new single titled ‘The X-panded Universe’. The track was arranged by Drew Erickson and co-produced by Erickson and Tillman. This release marks the artist's third standalone single of 2026, following ‘The Payoff’ in May and ‘The Old Law’ in January.

In addition to the new music, Tillman has announced his first solo headlining tour since 2013. The tour is scheduled to begin on December 9 in Boulder, Colorado, and will include stops in Fort Collins, Santa Fe, Tucson, Napa, and Grass Valley. The tour will conclude with two performances at the Sunset Cultural Center in Carmel-by-the-Sea on December 18 and 19, which will serve as a benefit for the Big Sur Park School. Damien Jurado is set to appear as a special guest for the December dates. Prior to the tour, Tillman will perform a solo show at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles on October 6.
