Gustrow murder trial: Gina H. accused of killing 8‑year‑old Fabian
The Landgericht Rostock is hearing the murder trial of Gina H., who is charged with the killing of eight‑year‑old Fabian from Güstrow. Prosecutors say the boy was lured to a pond near Klein Upahl on 10 October 2025, stabbed six times in the chest and later his body was set on fire. A court‑appointed profiler described the attack as an "overkill", noting the excessive number of wounds.
Fabian’s father, Matthias R., has publicly defended the accused, posting on social media that “Mein Sohn Fabian hat Gina genauso geliebt wie seine Mutter und mich.” He claims the evidence is “lückenhaft” and that the couple have reconciled. Earlier, a close friend recalled that R. had once suspected the accused but later stated he believed she was not involved. The prosecution maintains the motive was jealousy, while the defence plans to present its case in August. The trial is scheduled to continue until 10 September, with the mother appearing as a side‑plaintiff.
The case has drawn considerable media attention in Germany, prompting debate over the handling of forensic evidence and the rights of the accused.
