Father of Rabia Naz Vatan requests justice re-investigation

Şaban Vatan, the father of Rabia Naz Vatan, has formally requested the Turkish Ministry of Justice to reopen and re-examine the investigation into his daughter’s death. Rabia Naz Vatan, who was 11 years old, was found injured in front of her home in the Eynesil district of Giresun on April 12, 2018, and subsequently died in the hospital.

Claiming that the original investigation was insufficient, Vatan is calling for a thorough re-evaluation of specific evidence, including security camera footage from the incident route and base station data related to individuals allegedly connected to the case. He specifically highlighted witness reports of a black Doblo vehicle fleeing the scene at high speed and questioned why camera footage near a local school was not properly utilized.

Following previous public outcry, a research commission was established within the Grand National Assembly of Turkey to investigate suspicious child deaths. A report from that commission indicated that the possibility of Rabia Naz Vatan’s death being the result of a traffic accident was low.
