Fatih Mosque theft: Man loses 450,000 TL and gold savings
A man lost his life savings after an unidentified individual stole a bag containing approximately 450,000 TL in cash and 53 grams of gold from the Gazi Atik Ali Paşa Mosque in Fatih, Istanbul.
İshak Yılmaz, a private sector employee from Kadıköy, had traveled to the Grand Bazaar to exchange his savings to purchase a vehicle. While performing the noon prayer at the mosque on August 6, an unidentified suspect approached and seized the bag while Yılmaz was in prayer. The incident was captured by the mosque's security cameras.
Yılmaz reported the theft to the police, stating that the stolen amount represented years of labor. Law enforcement officials have launched an investigation and are reviewing camera footage to identify and apprehend the suspect.
