Fatima Kyari named 2026 Oxford Visiting Fellow

The University of Oxford has named Professor Fatima Kyari, the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), as the 2026 Aig-Imoukhuede Visiting Fellow.

Starting in September 2026, Kyari will undertake a six-month fellowship at the Blavatnik School of Government. The program, held in partnership with the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, is designed to help public sector leaders address critical policy challenges and strengthen public institutions.

Kyari’s research will focus on expanding medical education in Nigeria as a strategic public-sector reform. Her work aims to address issues such as healthcare workforce capacity, medical education quality, and the impact of changing healthcare labor markets. The fellowship is intended to produce practical policy recommendations for improving governance, regulatory stewardship, and large-scale reforms within the Nigerian health sector.
