Fatima Ouachay wins parliamentary seat in Morocco

Actress Fatima Ouachay has secured a seat in the Moroccan House of Representatives following the legislative elections held on September 23, 2026. Running as the regional list leader for the Justice and Development Party (PJD) in the Casablanca-Settat region, Ouachay transitioned from a career in television and theater to political office.

In the Casablanca-Settat regional constituency, which allocated 12 seats, Ouachay placed second with 139,708 votes, following Malika Mazour of the Authenticity and Modernity Party. Despite the second-place finish, the result allowed Ouachay to enter parliament as the PJD led its list within the district.

Following her victory, Ouachay addressed the public via social media, stating that her seat is a responsibility toward voters rather than a personal triumph. She pledged to serve as a voice for the citizens of the Casablanca-Settat region, emphasizing that the seat belongs to the people and her role is to defend their interests and social justice.
