Pakistan captain Fatima Sana has been fined 10 per cent of her match fee and issued a demerit point for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the Women’s Asia Cup 2026. The incident occurred during a Group A match against India in Dubai, when Sana gestured toward the pavilion after dismissing Indian opener Shafali Verma via a caught-and-bowled dismissal.

Sana was found to have violated Article 2.5 of the code, which prohibits using language, actions, or gestures that disparage a batter or could provoke an aggressive reaction upon dismissal. This marks her second offense within a 24-month period, bringing her total demerit points to two. Under ICC regulations, reaching four demerit points within 24 months results in suspension points, which can lead to bans from Test, ODI, or T20I matches.

Sana admitted to the offense and accepted the sanctions proposed by match referee Supriya Rani Das, precluding the need for a formal hearing. The disciplinary action follows a match in which India secured a seven-wicket victory over Pakistan.
