Fatoş Pınar Türker, Istanbul municipal case detainee, faints in prison and claims no hospital transfer

Fatoş Pınar Türker, the general manager of media company Medya A.Ş., has been detained in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) case since March 2025. Her lawyer, Burak Candan, submitted a petition to the 33rd Heavy Penal Court in Istanbul detailing her deteriorating heart condition and multiple episodes of loss of consciousness while incarcerated.

According to the petition, Türker fainted on 2 July in the Marmara Women’s Closed Prison, pressed the emergency panic button, but staff delayed intervention. On 24 July she fell, struck her head, and was not transferred to a full‑service state hospital despite the severity of the injury. The lawyer requests that she be moved to a fully equipped hospital, an investigation into the prison’s panic‑button system, and the cancellation of a planned transfer to Düzce Prison, which he argues would further endanger her health.

Türker has also publicly recounted alleged mistreatment during her arrest, including a forced strip search and threats against her children. No official comment has been issued by prison authorities or the Ministry of Justice.
