Fatoş Seğmen reveals cause of daughter Alya Erdoğan's death

Fatoş Seğmen, the 2004 Miss Turkey runner-up, has shared details regarding the death of her daughter, Alya Erdoğan. Following the previous loss of her husband, Bülent Erdoğan, Seğmen revealed that Alya had been battling a chronic illness since she was eight months old.

According to Seğmen, the child underwent continuous treatment for four and a half years and had been intubated twice due to severe health complications. While Alya had recently been discharged from the hospital in May after a period of recovery, she contracted a virus during a routine medical check-up.

The infection caused Alya's left lung to collapse completely, requiring ventilator support. Seğmen noted that after private hospitals declined to admit the child, she received emergency treatment at İzmir Şehir Hastanesi. Shortly after leaving the intensive care unit, Alya's heart stopped.
