Fatoumata Diallo sets new Portuguese 400m hurdles record
Portuguese athlete Fatoumata Diallo has set a new national record in the 400m hurdles with a time of 53.30 seconds at the Zurich Diamond League meeting. This performance improves her own previous record of 53.55 seconds, which she set two weeks prior during the European Championships in Birmingham.
Diallo finished fourth in the race at the Letzigrund Stadium, narrowly missing the podium by 0.13 seconds. The event was won by American Anna Cockrell (52.13), followed by Dalilah Muhammad (53.16) and Rushell Clayton (53.17).
With this result, Diallo has qualified for the Diamond League final scheduled to take place in Brussels. Her recent performances mark a significant career progression, as she is the only Portuguese athlete to have run the distance in under 54 seconds.
