Fauci Diary Reveals Israeli Data Shaped US COVID‑19 Booster Policy

Diary entries released by Senator Rand Paul show that Dr. Anthony Fauci relied heavily on real‑world data from Israel when the Biden administration decided to recommend COVID‑19 booster shots in 2021, months before comparable U.S. data were available. The private notes record more than 1,100 references to Israeli studies and vaccination statistics, confirming Israel as the primary reference for U.S. booster policy.

The diary also documents internal discussions in which Fauci, Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy and other senior officials sought to persuade CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky not to state that the vaccines did not prevent infection or transmission. Those efforts were linked to the administration’s push for additional boosters and to support vaccine‑mandate legal strategies. Fauci invoked his Fifth Amendment rights over 100 times during a July 29 Senate hearing about the diary’s release.
