Fauda returns to Netflix with fifth season set after October 7 attacks

The Israeli action-thriller series ‘Fauda’, created by Lior Raz and Avi Issacharoff, has released its fifth season on Netflix. This new installment, consisting of 11 episodes, is set two years after the October 7, 2023, attacks.

Following the real-world events, the creators rewrote the original script to reflect the trauma and consequences of the conflict. The season follows retired operative Doron Kavillio as he navigates grief and a mission of revenge, with parts of the story moving the action to Marseille, France.

The production has historically utilized authentic filming locations in Israel and the West Bank to maintain realism. The fifth season is noted for its psychological depth, focusing on the heavy aftershocks of war and the personal toll on its characters.
