Faustino Villalobos receives Chihuahua Cultural Merit Medal

The Chihuahua State Congress has awarded the 2026 Víctor Hugo Rascón Banda Medal for Cultural Merit to Faustino ‘Tito’ Villalobos Rodríguez. Recognized in the music category, Villalobos was selected unanimously by a jury after reviewing 18 candidates.

Villalobos has a musical career spanning over five decades, including more than 30 years as a teacher in primary and secondary schools. His work has ranged from the Sierra Tarahumara communities to urban areas, focusing on musical education, regional identity, and the preservation of Chihuahua’s sonic heritage. For the past two decades, he has also performed with the group BEANDA – Los Titos, alongside his children.

As part of the recognition, Villalobos’s name will be inscribed on the Wall of Honor in the Víctor Hugo Rascón Banda Distinguished Visitors Room. He also received a financial incentive of 67,900 pesos.
