Fausto Belia, prominent Umbrian journalist, dies at 75

Fausto Belia, a prominent figure in Umbrian journalism, has passed away in Perugia at the age of 75. He leaves behind a distinguished career that spanned several key roles in regional and international media.

Belia served as the head of the Ansa news agency office in Umbria and was a correspondent for the agency in Paris between 2004 and 2009. His career also included work with Radio Perugia Uno, Umbria Tv, and the press office of the Umbria Regional Government. Notably, he was part of the Ansa team covering the Sydney Olympics in 2000.

Colleagues and regional officials have praised him for his professionalism, rigor, and passion for reporting. The President of the Umbria Legislative Assembly, Sarah Bistoc, expressed deep condolences, noting his contribution to bringing regional news to national attention. His funeral is scheduled to take place in Bastia Umbra.
