Faustão honors son and celebrates SBT’s 45th anniversary

Brazilian television presenter Faustão, 76, made a rare televised appearance to honor his son, João Silva, for the first year of his program on SBT. During the appearance, Faustão also celebrated the 45th anniversary of the SBT network, paying tribute to the legacy of its founder, Silvio Santos, and entertainer Hebe Camargo.

Faustão has been away from regular television since 2023 following a series of significant health challenges, including heart and kidney transplants. His wife, Luciana Cardoso, stated that while his organ function is excellent, he is currently undergoing muscle rehabilitation to regain physical autonomy and strength.

To mark its 45-year milestone, SBT is running a month-long celebration throughout August. The network has launched a special commemorative vignette featuring its talent and is airing retrospective content, including a dedicated edition of SBT Repórter, to honor its history and audience.
