Fausto Zerón-Medina, Mexican historian and writer, passes away

Fausto Zerón-Medina, a scholar and writer known for his extensive knowledge of Mexican history and religious culture, has passed away. Born in 1947, Zerón-Medina was a university counselor during the events of 1968 and studied law and political science in Mexico.

He was a significant figure in both literature and media. In 1991, he co-founded Editorial Clío, where he authored works such as ‘Felicidad de México,’ an illustrated history regarding the Virgin of Guadalupe. Additionally, he played a key role in the development of historical telenovelas during the 1980s. Working with producer Ernesto Alonso and supported by Televisa, he contributed to popular series including ‘Senda de gloria,’ ‘El vuelo del águila,’ and ‘La antorcha encendida.’
