FAW-Volkswagen tests ID. AURA T6 durability in extreme heat test

FAW-Volkswagen, a joint venture of Volkswagen in China, conducted an extreme durability test on the new ID. AURA T6 electric SUV. The vehicle was placed inside a large rotating metal drum, similar in design to industrial popcorn machines, and subjected to intense heat and mechanical stress.

During the test, the vehicle was heated to approximately 160 degrees Celsius and rotated 50 times, causing it to roll repeatedly. While the process resulted in broken windows and significant deformation to the exterior body and roof, the structural integrity of the passenger compartment remained intact.

Notably, the high-voltage battery showed no signs of smoke, flames, or leakage despite the extreme temperatures. Following the test, the vehicle was still able to move under its own electric power. The demonstration aimed to showcase the resilience of the vehicle's bodywork and battery protection systems under severe stress conditions.
