Fazenda Rio Grande official exonerated after reporting vehicle misuse

Jefferson Carlos Santos Pereira, the former asset coordinator for the Fazenda Rio Grande Municipal Guard in the Curitiba metropolitan region, has been exonerated from his position. His dismissal follows his whistleblowing regarding the alleged irregular use of an unmarked GM vehicle for private purposes, including its use as a ride-sharing vehicle.

In addition to the vehicle misuse, Pereira reported that bulletproof vests had gone missing from the corporation. While the investigation by the Fazenda Rio Grande City Hall remains inconclusive months later, several changes have occurred within the department. Pereira claims that guards allegedly involved in the irregularities were promoted to roles such as the mayor's security, head of education, and asset coordinator.

Furthermore, Pereira alleges that those investigated claimed to possess documents intended to prove his misconduct, specifically suggesting involvement in drug trafficking, a charge he denies. Pereira also reported that his wife was exonerated while on medical leave, which he characterizes as a form of retaliation.
