Fazlı Arısoy expands hobby poultry farming in Hendek
Fazlı Arısoy, a 53-year-old who closed his shop in Adapazarı to return to his village in the Hendek district, has transformed a hobby into a growing organic egg production business. What began with only 10 chickens has expanded to 100 due to high demand from neighbors and the local community.
Arısoy currently produces an average of 40 eggs per day, with a current yield rate of approximately 50 percent as the flock is relatively young. He sells the organic eggs for 10 Turkish Lira each. To protect the flock, he has fenced a 3-decare garden to prevent wild animals from entering and has reinforced the coop to withstand heavy winter snowfalls, which can reach nearly one meter in the region.
Arısoy noted that while the venture started as a hobby, the intense local interest necessitated increasing the number of chickens from 10 to 50, and eventually to 100. He plans to add a porch to the coop to allow the chickens more outdoor space and emphasizes that maintaining a bright, well-cared-for environment is key to sustaining production levels.
