Fazıl Say Jazz Quintet to perform in Istanbul

The Fazıl Say Jazz Quintet is bringing its ‘Say Plays Jazz on Tour with Škoda’ to Istanbul, featuring two consecutive nights of performances at the Harbiye Cemil Topuzlu Open Air Theatre on September 2 and 3.

The tour, which has already visited Ayvalık, Çeşme, Efes, and Bodrum, features an 85-minute repertoire consisting of 18 interconnected works. The program includes two new compositions performed for the first time, alongside instrument solos and arrangements of works such as ‘Bodrum’, ‘Paganini Caz’, ‘Achilles’ from the ‘Troy Sonata’, and ‘Kara Toprak’. The music also draws inspiration from literary works by Murathan Mungan, Can Yücel, and Haydar Ergülen.

Fazıl Say is accompanied by Ezgi Alaş on vocals, Aslıhan And Say on flute, Serdar Barçın on saxophone, and Ferit Odman on drums. Following the Istanbul dates, the tour will continue through September with scheduled performances in İzmir on September 13, Denizli on September 16, Antalya on September 17, and Ankara on September 27.
