Andrew Reyes, former FBI agent, charged in Brooklyn hit-and-run

Former FBI Special Agent Andrew Reyes has been indicted for a February 3 hit-and-run in Brooklyn that left a pedestrian severely injured. According to federal prosecutors, Reyes was driving an agency-issued vehicle the wrong way on Ocean Parkway with emergency lights activated when he blew through a red light and struck a man.

Prosecutors allege that after the collision, Reyes dragged the unconscious victim from the street to a nearby bench, placed the man’s bag next to him, and fled the scene without calling for medical assistance. Reyes is accused of later lying to Department of Justice investigators during a May interview, where he allegedly denied ever hitting anyone in an FBI vehicle.

Reyes faces charges of willfully depriving an individual of their constitutional rights while acting under color of law and making false statements. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment and was released on a $100,000 bond. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison.
