Hugh Hefner reportedly alerted FBI to Jeffrey Epstein's crimes in 2005

Court documents from a lawsuit filed by 32 victims of Jeffrey Epstein allege that Playboy founder Hugh Hefner repeatedly contacted the FBI in 2005 to report Epstein for sexual abuse and trafficking.

According to the complaint, Audra Lynn Christiansen, a Playboy model, informed Hefner that Epstein had raped her and trafficked her to Macau casino billionaire Stanley Ho. Christiansen sought Hefner's help because she believed his significant influence and connections could ensure the authorities took her allegations seriously.

The lawsuit claims the FBI failed to adequately investigate these reports for years, noting that the agency did not contact Christiansen regarding her information until October 2020, more than 15 years after the initial reports and following Epstein's death in 2019.

The FBI has sought to dismiss the case, arguing that the agency is not required to investigate every complaint it receives. The legal proceedings are currently pending in a federal court in Florida.
