FBI Director Kash Patel Accused of Using Treasury Funds for $1 Million Slush Fund

Republican Representative Jamie Raskin, the ranking Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, sent a letter to FBI Director Kash Patel alleging that Patel directed more than $1 million in taxpayer‑funded bonuses to members of his inner circle. The payments, described as “personal slush fund” bonuses, were made to agents in the Director’s Advisory Team and to members of Patel’s security detail, with amounts ranging up to $40,000 per individual and recurring $8,000 bi‑weekly payments. Raskin warned that such disbursements may violate federal pay‑cap statutes and could constitute illegal favoritism toward loyalist “MAGA” agents. The letter also raised concerns about Patel’s broader management of FBI resources, including alleged misuse of SWAT personnel and the agency’s jet, as well as the dismissal of career agents involved in high‑profile investigations.
