FBI Director Kash Patel meets Thai and Cambodian leaders to strengthen anti‑scam cooperation
FBI Director Kash Patel visited Thailand, where Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul welcomed him at Government House. The two discussed expanded intelligence sharing and joint operations targeting transnational crime, especially large‑scale online scam networks. Thailand highlighted recent seizures of criminal assets worth tens of billions of baht and co‑hosted the Summit for the Scam Centers with U.S. officials.
Patel then traveled to Cambodia and met Prime Minister Hun Manet. The talks focused on coordinated efforts to combat cyber‑enabled fraud that the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime estimates caused up to $114 billion in losses in the Asia‑Pacific region in 2025. Officials linked scam operations to human‑trafficking and forced labour, and Cambodia pledged a crackdown and an international conference on cyber scams slated for September.
