FBI notes reveal discrepancies in Michael Flynn interview

Declassified handwritten notes from former FBI agents Peter Strzok and Joe Pientka reveal discrepancies between their 2017 interview with Michael Flynn and the official FBI typed summary, known as an FD-302.

The official FD-302, which was entered into the FBI system more than 20 days after the interview, was used to prosecute Flynn for making false statements regarding his communications with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak. While the official report suggested Flynn falsely represented his requests to refrain from escalating sanctions, the handwritten notes include a notation attributed to Flynn saying, “Hey, don’t do anything.”

The notes also indicate that Flynn did not flatly deny the calls but rather stated he could not remember or was unsure. Additionally, the agents had assessed at the time that Flynn appeared truthful and was not attempting to deceive them. The release of these documents occurs as federal prosecutors investigate whether the FBI's probe into Russian interference involved a conspiracy to falsely implicate Flynn and his supporters.
