FBI searches Beverly Hills mansion in Eric Swalwell investigation

Federal agents executed a search warrant at a Beverly Hills mansion on Tuesday morning, targeting the residence of billionaire developer Stephen Cloobeck. The operation is reportedly connected to an ongoing criminal investigation involving former U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell.

Cloobeck, the founder of Diamond Resorts International and a former supporter of Swalwell’s political campaigns, was not home during the search. Law enforcement sources indicated that investigators were seeking electronic devices and records related to prostitution. The FBI confirmed the operation in the Los Angeles region but noted that court documents remain under seal and no arrests were planned at the scene.

The raid marks a significant escalation in the federal probe into Swalwell, who resigned from Congress and withdrew from the California gubernatorial race in April following multiple allegations of sexual misconduct. These allegations include claims of sexual assault and rape from at least five women, including a former congressional staffer.

This investigation follows previous federal actions in August, when agents seized Swalwell’s electronic devices at San Francisco International Airport and searched his Washington, D.C., residence. Swalwell has denied all allegations of criminal wrongdoing, characterizing them as false and politically motivated.
