FBI seeks exclusive UFC contract for agent combat training
The FBI is pursuing a one-year exclusive contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) to provide hand-to-hand combat and defensive tactical training for its special agents. According to agency documents, the bureau considers the UFC the ‘sole qualified vendor’ capable of delivering the required expertise in striking, grappling, takedowns, weapon defense, and ground control.
The training program aims to enhance the physical combat abilities, mental toughness, and tactical awareness of agents operating in high-risk situations. The proposed deal would bypass the standard competitive bidding process typically required for federal contracts, a move that has drawn scrutiny.
Critics and former officials have noted the close ties between UFC CEO Dana White and President Donald Trump, as well as FBI Director Kash Patel’s interest in the sport. White has been a long-time ally of the Trump administration, and the FBI has previously held training seminars with UFC fighters at the Quantico academy. While the specific value of the contract remains undisclosed, the FBI intends to pursue long-term contracts through competitive bidding following this initial one-year period.
