FBI warns fans of fraudulent FIFA websites targeting World Cup 2026 ticket buyers
The US Federal Bureau of Investigation has issued a public alert about a large‑scale online fraud campaign that impersonates the official FIFA website ahead of the 2026 World Cup. Fake domains such as fifa.cab, fifa.pink, fifa‑online.com, worldcup26ticket.com and many others—including localized versions like worldcup2026‑tickets.com.mx—are being used to harvest personal data, sell counterfeit tickets and bogus travel packages. The FBI advises fans to type fifa.com directly into their browser, avoid sponsored search results, and refrain from providing financial or personal information on any other site. Cyber‑security firm Group‑IB identified more than 4,300 deceptive domains since August 2025, many operated by a Chinese‑language fraud ring that leverages typo‑squatting and multilingual fake login pages. The warning comes as the tournament is set to be co‑hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, with matches beginning on 11 June at Mexico City’s Azteca Stadium and concluding on 19 July at New York/New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium. The FBI urges anyone encountering suspicious sites to report the activity through its official cyber‑crime channels.
