Fábrica de Leis column highlights Brazilian legislative complexity

The legal column ‘Fábrica de Leis’, which debuted in September 2022 on the electronic magazine Consultor Jurídico, is being honored for its role in analyzing the Brazilian legislative process. Driven by the editorial intuition of Márcio Chaer, the column sought to move beyond strict legal dogmatics to engage a broader audience, including jurists, public managers, and citizens.

Over the course of 154 texts, the column focused on the ‘other half of Law’—the legislative cycle—rather than focusing solely on the Judiciary. It aimed to illuminate the complexities of how laws are produced, how they function, and how they transform within the Brazilian institutional architecture.
