FC Andorra celebrates 84th anniversary

FC Andorra is celebrating its 84th anniversary, marking its foundation on October 15, 1942. The club, a pioneer of football in the Principality, is currently navigating a period of professional football.

The club's history is highlighted by two distinct eras: its early decades and the transformation beginning in December 2018. During that time, Gerard Piqué and Clayton acquired the entity while it was in the Primera Catalana. Despite an initial 3-2 defeat against EFAC Almacelles in early 2019, the project successfully moved the club toward professional status.

As part of the anniversary commemorations, the club also honors the memory of Valentín Jorge Sánchez, known as ‘Robi’. A former La Liga champion with Atlético de Madrid, Robi played for FC Andorra from the 1981-82 to 1985-86 seasons, serving as a respected captain and midfielder before his passing in 2023.
