FC Argeș beats Petrolul 1-0 as red‑card controversy rocks Liga I match

FC Argeș Pitești secured a 1‑0 victory over FC Petrolul Ploiești in a Romanian Liga I fixture, with Robert Moldoveanu scoring the only goal in the 17th minute. The home side also finished the game with ten men after Petrolul defender Ricardo Matos received a straight red card in the 43rd minute for an elbow strike on opponent Paul Papp. Former FIFA referee Marius Avram later reviewed the incident and affirmed that the dismissal was justified, calling the action "inexplicable" but within the definition of violent conduct.
